Tom and I are enjoying a lazy day on one of the promenade deck on the
Royal Caribbean in the Southern Caribbean, Life is good!

This picture was taken on the promenade deck while on the Stampin' Up! Panama Cruise 2007.  We were participating in a walk for Brest Cancer and my Mom was cheering everyone on as they rounded the deck.  I know this isn't her favorite picture – but I love this picture of her, her eyes are full of life and her smile of complete happiness.

Many of you know she has been battling Ovarian Cancer for the past 4 years.  Her cancer has become resistant to the Chemo and it is no longer being effective, so they are trying some experimental drug. We are moving into more unfamiliar grounds and again reminded to take one day at a time. We have appreciated all the prayers for her the past few years and ask that you continue to pray for us in this next leg in our journey.

My Mom is an incredible person. Always positive seeing the glass half full not empty and seeing the good in others, supportive and encouraging.  She has been a huge part of my Stampin' Up! business while not being a stamper herself, and so very proud of what I do. This cruise is a bitter sweet… My Mom wasn't able to come with us this year, she has enjoyed 3 Stampin' Up! cruises along with Tom and I.  But  I know she will be excited to see our pictures and hear all about it when we get home.

Convention_08_rdax_215x192 Today is the start the Stampin' Up! 2009 Convention. This years theme is Inspire – Create – Share.  Each year, Stampin' Up! demonstrators from across the US and Canada gather for three days of education, celebration, and motivation. Convention always includes time to swap cards, attend business classes and new-product demonstrations, participate in Make & Takes, and enjoy time with the best stampers in the world!

Each year my biggest challenge is to come up with a swap that I think other demo's would enjoying receiving.  Since I am always making them at the last minute, I have to make sure I have enough supplies on hand.  And every year I say "next year I am going to plan ahead and make them a month before!" ya right.  This year I out did myself I finished the day before I left not last minute for me this year (smiling)!

As you read this I will be moving through the crowd above swapping cards with other demo's.  I will share some of them with you when I get home.  For now I thought I would share the swaps I made this year.

A special event every year is the Stampin' Up! Convention in Salt Lake City, Utah.  First I love the small town fill of the big city of Salt Lake.  This will be my 9th Stampin' Up! Convention and each year it is as exciting as the first.  We learn about the new products in the catalog, are inspired by endless stamped samples and making new friends and seeing old.

I am sorry that I wasn't able to post last week my hubby and I went on our 7th annual motorcycle ride with friends from his work. We put on just over 1100 miles in 4 days.  Thank heavens I will be traveling to Salt Lake via airplane (smiling).  This week I will be spending some time organizing and putting together things for this upcoming year.  I hope to post a blog or two, but we will see what time permits.

I will be out of my SU office a bit more this summer but that is one reason I started my own business as a Stampin' Up! demonstrator so I could have flexible hours and travel more with my husband whom has a great deal of vacation time each year.  Now I do need to dedicate a certain amount of time to the business but the beauty of it is I can set my own hours.  Have you ever considered having your own business?  Doing something fun and getting paid for it?  Working part time and getting paid like you work full time?  You can check out here more information about doing what I do!

Well now onto some paper work… which is the one thing I do procrastinate!  Hopefully I can share later this week some pictures of or trip and of course a card idea or two.

Our last day in Hawaii, as sad as we were to leave Paradise we knew that our little Alayna would be born any time and so getting on board the plain for home was a bit easier.  I will share just a few last day photos.  We spent most of the last day walking around the resort and taking it all in.  The beauty and grandness is more than words can express.

Each night when we return to our rooms, there are gifts awaiting on our turned down beds. Stampin' Up! treats us like royalty and it so much fun to see what will appear each nigh.

My goal the next month is to stamp up a storm of ideas.  It has been fun sharing each day with you and I hope to post at least 3 times a week with some fun stamping inspiration!  Check back in a day or two to see the cards I designed using the new printed window sheets in the Occasions Mini.  Better yet sign up to get the email updates so you don't miss a post!

Each day is filled with special memories.  The Hawaiian Luau is one of them.  We were greeted by lovely little hula girls and they placed Kukui Nut Lei's around our necks.  Men received dark ones and women received light colored ones.  They are wonderful keep sakes.

They had local crafters booths were we could learn to make Lia's, sample Poi (that is one dish I won't be adding to my list of favorite foods), woodcarvers, coconut huskers, quilters.

Do you ever meet someone and it feels like you have known them your entire life?  That is how I felt when I meet Heather, we were on the 12 hour Grand Island tour on the 2nd day.  We have emailed since we got home and I know we will be life long friends.

Most of my life my friends have all been tall, Tom says that's not hard when your only 5'2" tall.  I have always been short next to Tom, but you can imagine how small I felt standing next to retired NBA Basketball player Thurl Bailey.  Thurl Bailey is one of the Board of Directors of Stampin' Up!  Often times we are blessed with his beautiful voice.  You can check out his music click here.

Anyone who placed a Hawaii Sale order was invited to a special make & take night, unfortunately I came down with the flu and for one of the first times in 11 years I had to cancel the event.  I wanted to share the make and takes I had planned for this special evening. You can click on the pictures to make them larger to view.

Everyone on board.  Just outside the lobby is the tram stop which we took to the main lobby for the bus to the beach.  With all the beautiful water at the resort you might ask why take a bus to the beach?  At first we didn't plan to go, but pier pressure of our good friends and the guys telling Tom  their was a topless beach right next door, we were on the bus in no time!  He did know they were kidding… I think.

Hapuna’s white sands have earned it a reputation as the number one beach in the US and in the top ten internationally.   My favorite is still the beach at Half Moon Kay in the Bahamas.  The water was really nice and we enjoyed playing in the surf.

More than the trips themselves reconnecting with friends is always very special.  Miss you Sue and Deb!

The guys enjoy time together too, not worried about their hair getting wet.

I think someone did this sand sculpture of me, do you see the resemblance.

More Make & Takes from Hawaii.  We made these adorable little purses, mine has a "P" on it for Patsy, but it was difficult to capture on photo, so I am using the photo from our handout.  I hope to make these in an upcoming class so stay tuned!

A great way to see the Big Island of Hawaii is to take the Grand Circle Island Tour.  We planned ahead to spend the day with Friends Ann (stamper Dog's agent) and Cecil Clemmer.  It was a very nice day and we enjoyed it very much.

Here is Cecil and Ann Clemmer at one of our first stops the Black Sand Beaches.

Next Stop Volcano National Park…my question is why are we standing this close to an active volcano?

It is always such a treat to see Sarah Douglas.  They did mention a light jacket or sweater would be nice,  However a winter parka would have been welcome.

I suffer a bit from claustrophobia, and the Lava tubes were no exception.  I was well into the tube before I realized it wasn't just a 15-20 feet.  But clutching Tom's arm and a few tears I did make it all the way through.  Now for me it was a major accomplishment and a highlight of the trip.  Tom's arm has healed nicely from the claw marks.

Exit from the Lava Tube!  I am alive!!

Our final travels took us through Parker Ranch.  The ranch was founded in 1847 and is one of the oldest ranches in the US, pre-dating many mainland ranches in Texas and other southwestern states. Spreading approximately 135,000 acres Parker Ranch is also among the country’s largest.

Hawaii Make & Takes… yes while in the beautiful Island we did stamp.  (I actually stamped about and hour and brought the rest home do do in the cold and snow!).  The first two make and takes I am sharing today are made with the stamp set For All You Do to be released in the 2009-2010 Idea Book & Catalog.
